How to Notarize Documents Online with PPM Notary: A Step-by-Step Guide

Navigating the online notarization process can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. At PPM Notary Services, we use the state-approved Blue Notary platform to make notarizations quick, secure, and stress-free. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

Step 1: Check Your Email and Get Started

Once your session is scheduled, you’ll receive an email from Blue Notary. This email contains:

  • A "Get Started" button to begin the process.

  • Information about what you’ll need and how the process works.

  • A time estimate (usually about 15 minutes, depending on your notarization type).

Pro Tip: Sign on a few minutes early to ensure your microphone and audio are working properly and to address any last-minute questions.

Step 2: Begin Identity Verification

Click "Get Started" in the email to begin your ID verification process. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Personal Information: Fill out your name and details, then click Next.

  2. Residential Address: Enter your address and click Continue.

  3. Knowledge-Based Questions: Answer a series of questions unique to you. These are time-sensitive, and you’ll have limited attempts.

Step 3: Upload Your ID

You’ll need to upload a valid government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license, state ID, or passport. Blue Notary gives you two options:

  • Take a photo of your ID directly.

  • Upload a saved copy from your device.

Need to use your phone? Select "Continue on another device" to receive a link via text. This makes it easy to snap a photo of your ID and complete the upload process.

Step 4: Take a Selfie for ID Verification

To finalize identity verification, you'll be prompted to scan your face in real-time. This ensures that the ID belongs to you.

Once your verification is complete, you’ll automatically enter your online session.

Step 5: Meet Your Notary and Complete the Signing

In the online session, you’ll be greeted by your notary. Here’s what will happen:

  • The notary will guide you through signing the document electronically.

  • If you haven’t uploaded your document, you can do so during the session. However, we recommend sending your document to the notary ahead of time for review and pre-tagging to ensure a smooth process.
